Claims that a trace of continuous leftist anti-Judaism has been present in the attitude of the SDS German students' movement since its orientation toward anti-Zionism from the late 1960s to the present. While it is difficult to differentiate between legitimate criticism of Israel and antisemitic connotations, the abundance of antisemitic stereotypes in anti-Zionist arguments points to a strong connection between antisemitism and anti-Zionism. Mentions German terrorist groups in the 1970s which aspired to the destruction of Israel. States that the identification of the Left with the Palestinians during the 1990s was not only motivated by the situation of Palestinian refugees; accusations vented against Israel enabled a liberation from the burden of the German past.
