Book excerpt: A cookbook for the NZ boatie with mouth-watering recipes to suit every occasion. Includes essential tips and hints, specialty drinks, appetisers, main menus and simple, delectable desserts. Planning a trip away and travelling by boat? Whether it's inspiration for food to take on a weekend away or serious provisioning for a two-week trip, this is the book to plan the trip perfectly. Robyn Webb shows you how to plan your galley supplies so you're never left to survive on a sea biscuit . She takes you step-by-step through preparing simple but elegant starters, meals, desserts and drinks that will add culinary memory to your cruises. From sushi to sandwiches, using frozen meat and poultry or your own fresh catch of the day, this is dining on the water at its best. Specialty drinks are served on deck with tasty appetisers. Decadent desserts take only a short time to make on the barbecue or whip up in your galley. Cook's tips offer ideas to make cooking on the water a pleasurable experience. Suggested menus offer a wide range of delicious dishes to entice even a landlubber to take to the sea. These recipes come from New Zealand boaties and yachties who have sailed extensively around New Zealand and the world. Based in Auckland, Robyn Webb has always had a great interest in food and a love of the sea. She has sailed in the Hauraki Gulf and around the northern coastline of New Zealand. For 10 years she spent summers in New Zealand and winters in Jersey in the Channel islands, giving her the opportunity to travel in Europe. Her time spent working at Boat Books in Westhaven Marina, Auckland, gave rise to the idea for this book.
